Helping animals is not merely a job to Dr. Woon, an Aussie veterinarian of Malaysian-Chinese descent; it is her calling and greatest passion in life.
One of her most heartfelt endeavors is making in-home euthanasia a peaceful and positive experience for both her pet patients and pet parents. She doesn't want any pets to suffer when she can provide a compassionate and loving goodbye.
Her affinity to this specialized work, and her over 15 years of experience in the veterinary industry, led her to creating Angel Wing Vets Los Angeles upon moving to the City of Angels.
Dr. Woon
was born in Australia where she grew up in Canberra and graduated from the University of Sydney, ranked as the top veterinary college in the country.
We are beyond grateful for the heartfelt feedback our pet parents have kindly provided; it is an honor and a privilege to be able to help your incredible pets who deserve the most loving goodbye.
~ Dr. Sy Woon
Dr. Woon you are an angel! The time you took to talk to us and our sweet dog PEANUT was touching to say the least! When a decision is made to put your best friend for more than 11 years out of her pain and misery, you question everything about the timing and your personal sadness for doing so.
Dr. WOON you took all of that hesitation and wondering away from us. We knew after being with you for only a few minutes, that this was the right decision for our sweet girl! You were so kind and patient and our family thanks you for this!
PEANUT thanks you for the kindness and tenderness given to her. She will always have you Dr. WOON in her heart as well!"
Dr. Sy was exceptional. She was graceful and walked me through the whole process. I was very grateful to have her there to guide me as to what would happen. She was kind, empathetic and what everyone needs when going through that experience with your pet. I felt comfortable as I knew Dr. Sy would take great care and compassion for my Lillie as I said goodbye to her.
----
Dr. Sy Woon was so amazing and we are lucky we had her during this awful time. She made it a peaceful experience and was wonderful and calming the whole time. Your company is unbelievable and I'm so glad you were recommended to us. Thank you again.
Dr. Sy (Woon) was a gift from hashem (god in Hebrew) she was able to help me create a peaceful environment where I was holding my baby in bed.
----
A truly kind human being, she made one of the worst days of my life a little soft and I'll always be grateful for that.
----
There really are no words to express the gratitude we have for Dr. Sy Woon. She was amazing, so compassionate during a very difficult time, losing a pet family member. I wish there were more like her out there. Thank you, Dr. Woon, for caring!
Today was one of the hardest days for my family as we had to put our beloved 14 year old dog, Teddy, to sleep.
I can’t say enough nice things about Dr. Sy Woon. She was so caring & compassionate (especially towards our 6 & 3 year old children) and it’s exactly what we needed in that dark moment.
Teddy’s passing was everything we had hoped it would be- gentle and calm, surrounded by loved ones, in the comfort of our home.

"Dr. Woon was such a compassionate doctor. From the moment she came in, she filled us with peace and comfort. Clifford was always anxious with strangers and she was able to comfort him.
We were not ready to let Clifford go, due to the unexpected events of his health. He was always so healthy and strong. However, Dr. Woon gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our sweet angel. She never rushed us and made sure we were ready to let him go.
Dr. Woon was gentle and filled us with ease. His last day was filled with peace and love. Thank you, Dr. Woon, for your dedication, compassion, sympathy and patience."
In the last 9 weeks I have with a heavy heart had to say so long to 4 of my precious fur babies. It has been one of the saddest times I have ever gone through... I will forever be grateful beyond words to Dr. Woon! I requested her for each one of their passings. She was so kind and present... She made a world of difference in this ever so challenging time.

Dr. Sy was a blessing. We were so upset about saying goodbye and very nervous about the whole process. But from the first meeting, Dr. Sy's energy was so calming and kind. She showed so much patience and love for our little Max. Taking time to talk to him, pet him and show him love. She made Max as comfortable as possible with her compassion. As painful as saying goodbye to Max was, Dr. Sy really helped our little family immensely. We are grateful for her.
Dr. Sy was warm and empathetic. She was instrumental in making the experience peaceful, and at times, joyful. Thank you, Dr. Sy, for allowing our baby to leave us peacefully.
----
Dr. Sy helped me so much in the last few moments of my sweet 20 year old cat's transition. Her skill, compassion and empathy provided support that was so very much appreciated. I am so very grateful for their service which indeed is a gift for our loving babies.
----
Dr. Sy was absolutely amazing. She came to our home and was very good at explaining what would happen and how our sweet dog would react. She took extra time to explain things to my young daughter, and was gentle and caring. She allowed us time to properly say goodbye and grieve when the time came. She was absolutely wonderful!

What a beautiful way for my soulmate to pass. Dr. Woon was professional and such a comforting part of the whole process. I am so thankful for this service and for her. She is such a genuine person. Thank you for making my miserable day sting a little less. I am gonna miss her for the rest of my life but it means the world that my final memories with her were that of comfort and love.
Your kindness and compassion helped me endure the process and helped so much. I miss my Boy but know with your help I gave him a peaceful transition. Thank you.
Dr. Woon was so kind and allowed our boy to pass easily and with dignity. Please convey our gratitude to Dr. Woon.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Sy Woon from Lap of Love for providing amazing care and helping my sweet Lucky cross the rainbow bridge peacefully. I highly recommend Dr. Sy and we couldn't have asked for a better vet
"From the moment Dr. Sy arrived it was a blessing to our family. Her empathy, her tenderness and her giving Tippie a treat was so sweet and she immediately started loving on her. Tippie was completely comfortable with Dr. Sy and very peaceful. Words can't express having Tippie at home during this time. She hated going to the vet! Dr. Sy, thank you for your compassion and God Bless you and your family."
Dr. Sy Woon did an amazing job helping Pookie during her last moments! She was compassionate and very reassuring.
Dr. Woon was incredibly sweet and patient with us. She explained every step of the process to make the transition easier and less painful for us and for our doggie to experience. We are very grateful to her and to all the personnel from Lap of Love for the help and thoughtfulness towards the whole family.
We are so very grateful for the emergency service provided by this caring and compassionate company. Within two hours of my phone call, the doctor arrived and she was like an angel sent when needed most. Our dog couldn't even stand on his own. He was 11.5 years old which is about the time a greyhound's life is over. The Dr. was so helpful in helping my wife deal with this and understanding that it was the right decision to not let him suffer. Thank you Tina, for your compassion on my call this morning and for arranging such a wonderful Dr. (Dr. Sy) to come out so quickly!
Dr. Woon was comforting and gentle and made us at ease on the preparations. She was knowledgeable and answered any questions.
----
Dr. Sy, Thank you SO much for all that you have done for us and for Wyatt. I cannot thank you enough for making something so incredibly difficult and sad actually manageable. I know that Wyatt was happy, full of chicken and surrounded by those that loved him - if we all could be so lucky when it is our time!
I don't think I have enough words that I could say to express how amazing Doctor Woon was. Today I had to euthanize my 3 year old hedgehog who was in active heart failure. They took me right away and even stayed into their lunch break so that my little Shelly wouldn't have to suffer longer. Doctor Woon was reassuring, knowledeable, and professional. You can see how much she cares for her patients, animals and people. She let us come to the back and stay with our girl through the whole procedure. It meant so much that we were able to be there with her in her final moments.
The Last Battle ~ Author Unknown
If it should be that I grow frail & weak,
or pain prolongs my usual sleep,
Then will you do what must be done?
For this - the last battle - can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand.
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love & friendship must stand the test.
We have had such happy years together,
I know you wish I'd just get better.
But you wouldn't want me to suffer so,
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me until the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree,
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't cry nor grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close - we two - these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
Angel Wing Vets L.A. is a small business that is entirely owned and operated by local veterinarians who prioritize compassionate care above all. Additionally, we only focus on servicing Los Angeles county, versus rapidly expanding to other regions.
Everything from our logo design, medical equipment, user-friendly website - down to the specific font style chosen for a particular part of the web page - have been meticulously crafted by Dr. Woon herself to ensure it aligns with her vision and is of the highest quality.
Similarly, choosing to partner directly with a privately-owned crematory - Coral Cremations - is intentional in pursuit of creating the most dignified experience for you & your pets.
Not only do we have your pets picked up directly at your home after passing, to be respectfully transported to the crematory, but their ashes are then hand-delivered by Coral Cremations safely to your doorstep.
We go the extra mile because we believe our pets deserve the absolute best and most personalized care.
